| [Registration] |
| Q: |
When I try to register on the Registration Page,
I receive an error message and cannot not register to the site.
Why? |
| A: |
Pioneer uses 128-bit encryption for transmitting
user data to protect the privacy of registered users (please refer
to Pioneer's basic policy of handling personal data of users).
Therefore, you can receive an error message when the version of
the browser you use does not support 128-bit encryption. Check
the version of your browser and update to the latest version if
necessary. |

|
| Q: |
Is the music files stored in a MagicGate Memory
Stick deleted when the database is updated? |
| A: |
It depends on whether you use HDD Updater or
not.
When you copy the database from the HDD built in the Headunit
(DEH-P90HDD/DEH-P900HDD) to a MagicGate Memory Stick:
Before copying the database, first format the Memory Stick. (This
procedure erases all data including music files.) So, check in
and transfer the data and music files you want to keep to other
media beforehand.
When you use HDD Updater:
Music files and other data stored in a MagicGate Memory Stick
will not be erased. If there is not enough space in the stick,
a warning message will appear. Should the message appear, follow
instructions on screen. |
|
| Q: |
I get a message "File to copy is too large.
It won't fit on a MagicGate Memory Stick. Insert a new Memory
Stick." What should I do? |
| A: |
This message appears when the size of the MagicGate
Memory Stick you use is smaller than that of the Gracenote CDDB
database file. Therefore, you have to upgrade from the MagicGate
Memory Stick you have to one with a larger capacity. Please remember
each time you update the database, the file size grows larger.
So, it's recommended your first MagicGate Memory Stick should
be a 128MB type, not one with less capacity. |
|
| Q: |
When I tried to update the database for the first
time, I received a message "The package file you've selected
is already updated". Does this mean an error occurred? |
| A: |
The Gracenote CDDB database that comes with your
Headunit will be updated without notice. Please check the version
of the database supplied with your Headunit and that of the updated
database. |
|
| Q: |
I'm switching to a new PC. What should I do? |
| A: |
There's the "Work" folder in the folder
where the program was installed Ñ for instance, C:\Program Files\Pioneer\HDD
Updater. Copy all the files in the "Work" folder, together
with Updater.ini and Updater.log, and save (overwrite) them on
the new PC's hard disk in the folder where the program is installed. |
|
| [Download] |
| Q: |
I can't download the operation manual. What should
I do? |
| A: |
Right-click the mouse and select "Save as
object". |
|
|
| Q: |
Where should I store the package file for updating? |
| A: |
Any folder is OK. But it's recommended you store
it in the "pkg" folder where the program is installed
Ñ for instance, C:\Program Files\Pioneer\Update\pkg. |
|
|
| Q: |
I cancelled downloading the package file. Then,
when I try to download the file again by clicking on "Download",
I can't download. |
| A: |
This problem can occur when you (a) use Internet
Explorer for browsing and (b) have cancelled downloading the package
file and tried to download it again. When you've cancelled downloading,
quit Internet Explorer once, boot it up again and start all over
again. |
|
| [Miscellaneous] |
| Q: |
Will Pioneer HDD Updater, the application software,
be updated in the future? |
| A: |
It will be updated whenever deemed necessary.
* To update the program, uninstall it once from the Control Panel
("Add/Remove Programs") or "Uninstall HDD Updater"
from the "Program Menu." And then install it once again.
|
|
| Q: |
Are there plans to update the updated data at
the Pioneer HDD Updater site on the Internet? |
| A: |
There will be updates four times a year. |
|
| Q: |
Is the data at the Pioneer HDD Updater site on
the Internet free? |
| A: |
Yes, it is free. |
|
| Q: |
Is there a possibility that I may be charged
for the data at the Pioneer HDD Updater site on the Internet in
the future? |
| A: |
Our future plans are not finalized yet. |
|
| Q: |
Until when will the data at the Pioneer HDD Updater
site on the Internet be available? |
| A: |
It will be available until March 2004. But it
is not decided yet whether we continue to offer the data after
April 2004. |
|
| Q: |
Is it possible to append updated information
to the tracks recorded on the HDD? |
| A: |
The appended information on titles will not be
updated even when you update the Gracenote CDDB database. There
may be tracks, of which the Gracenote CDDB database has no title
information, that are tagged with dates on the playlist. With
such tracks, the information on their titles will not be updated
even when the updated Gracenote CDDB database has it. |
|
| Q: |
When a track is appended with information on
its title from the Gracenote CDDB database, a different title
is assigned. Why? |
| A: |
During search for information on titles, each
CD's TOC data is checked. When two CDs contain the same TOC data,
the title of the other disc may be appended. |
